Enforcing Our Victory
The first step in spiritual warfare is taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Warfare is not beating up on the devil. Jesus already did this. Therefore we proactively capture thoughts that do not glisten with faith, hope and love.
Scripture Reading: Luke 10:1-24 (Also 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 6:10-13: Philippians 4:8)
Jesus actually danced– he rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit. Why? Because his disciples came back and accidentally discovered something about this new order of things called “The Kingdom.” In this new order, not only does Jesus give us authority and gifts us with effectiveness in our speaking and in our healing the sick, but we can also speak to demons and they have to flee. Jesus saw Satan fall– displaced from his dominion which he usurped from man. And this was done by these very ordinary guys! Prophets and kings would have given anything to see it– to be a part of it! But it would be ordinary people with the authority of Christ who would soon enforce Christ’s victory over Satan.
And the implications are profound: At one time Daniel was praying for understanding of a troubling vision, and the response of God through Gabriel was opposed by a demonic spiritual prince over Persia. No more! Christ’s authority already trumped Satan’s. But at the cross and resurrection, this trump card was given to his followers! We don’t fight a battle for dominion; Jesus has already done that! Like soldiers, who now occupy a conquered territory, we don our spiritual armor and with prayer and declaration (the word of our testimony– Revelation 12:10) we enforce that victory! Having done everything, all that remains for us to do is “to stand” (Ephesians 6:10-13)!
But Satan is a deceiver whose only power is now built upon lies! He can only have power when we grant it to him through our agreement. That’s why we must utilize the weapons of our warfare against him: the blood of Christ (which cleanses us of all sin and establishes our covenant position as God’s children) and the word of God (which exposes Satan’s lies and establishes the truth of our position in our hearts and lives). The real battle for us is in our minds. We must cast down the satanic inspired imaginations that come to our minds; and every false exaltation that would try to re-establish his authority in our lives. We must choose to arrest every thought and make it obedient to the Spirit of Christ in us. The battleground is in our mind. The battle is “in here” not “out there.” We must know and live out the truth that sets up free from his lies.
1. How would the concept of “the battle already being won and we are to simply enforce Christ’s victory” personally affect our life, our prayers, our ministry, or our perseverance in the face of opposition?
2. What are the lies we’ve agreed with that has given Satan a measure of power in our lives today? Should repentance therefore be a good thing or a dreaded thing for us?
3. How equipped do you consider yourself in enforcing Christ’s victory, based upon your present intake of the word and receptive input from the Holy Spirit?
Declaration: As you pray today, make the following declaration…
I am an enforcer of Christ’s victory today– more than a conqueror! Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. I have an anointing to know God’s truth. I have a Bible to read Gods truth. I have Jesus in me, Who is God’s truth. I have greater confidence in God’s ability to lead me in truth than in Satan’s ability to deceive me. I live in a constant state of repentance– adjusting my mindset to Christ’s. I do bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ now!
